Trips
2001
- Drummond Island, MI (June)
Our first four wheeling trip in the new Chateau motor home. We towed
the 94 Grand Cherokee on a tow dolly. We did not take the Wrangler since
the new axle was not yet installed.
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes, MI (July)
We went to Silver Lake along with the Wolverine Four Wheelers to help
with a sound testing project. Since the new axle was not installed on
the Wrangler, we towed another member's Jeep on a tow dolly.
- The Badlands, Attica, IN (August)
My Wrangler was finally ready, and we went with several Wolverines to
Attica. With the new axle I conquered the hill that broke my old axle
in April! We stayed at the Summers Campground several miles north of
Attica.
- Arkansas, although we did not do any four wheeling. (September)
We took a trip to Arkansas to scout possible retirement locations. We
stayed the first night at very pretty Old
Davidsonville State Park near Pocahontas. We moved on to Oak Flat
where we camped in a friend's yard. We awoke on September 11 to news
that the World Trade Center had been attacked. After recovering from
the shock, we moved on to Lake
Ouachita State Park near Hot Springs. After a few days at a Harrison
Village Campground at Harrison, AR and side trips to Branson, MO
and Eureka Springs, we returnd to Michigan staying one night at WalMart./li>
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes, MI (October)
We traveled with the Wolverine Four Wheelers to Silver Lake for our
annual fall run. We statyed at the Silver Lake State Park campground.
2002
- Dayton Hamvention, Dayton, OH (May)
Even though Lee has been a ham since 1978, this was our first trip to
the largest ham convention of them all. We stayed at the Dayton
KOA and rod the shuttle bus to the convention center.
- Jellico, TN (May)
Jellico is an outstanding new four wheeling area that is being developed
by the Trailkeepers Foundation. We stayed at Indian
Mountain State Park at Jellico.
- Ouray, CO (July/August)
We returned to the San Juan Mountains along with 11 other Wolverines
vehicles for our biennial Wolverines Out West (WOW) Tour. We stayed
a couple of days near Buena Vista before moving on to Ouray where we
stayed at the Ouray
KOA, arguably the prettiest KOA in the country.
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes (October)
Our annual fall trip to the Sand Dunes. We stayed at Silver Lake State
Park campground.
2003
- Paragon Offroad Park, PA (April)
We visited this outstanding offroad park in eastern Pennsylvania
and stayed at Moyers Grove Campground.
- Jellico, TN (May)
We returned to the Trailkeepers Memorial Day run for the second
year in a row and again stayed at Indian
Mountain State Park.
- Keewenau Pensinsula, MI (July)
We spent July 4 week in Copper Harbor, Michigan enjoying the Lake
Superior scenery. We stayed at the Lake
Fanny Hooe Resort and Campground. The Copper Harbor area is remote
and very beautiful.
- Omaha, NE and Savannah, GA (August)
We went to Omaha for Cec's family reunion and then drove the grandkids
home to Savannah. In Omaha we stayed at the West
Omaha KOA. Along the way we stayed at the St.
Louis NE KOA, which is actually in an industrial area in Illinois.
In Atlanta we stayed at the Stone
Mountain Campground and in Savannah at Whispering Pines Campground.
2004
- Coal Creek ORV Park, TN (May)
We went four wheeling with the Wolverines at this new ORV park
near Oak Ridge, TN., We stayed at Mountain
Lake Marina and Campground located on Norris Lake. This an older
campground, although it met our needs.
- Niagara Falls, ON (June)
We took three of Cec's grandkids to see Niagara Falls. We stayed
at the very pretty Niagara
Falls KOA and rode the shuttle bus to the falls. This is a very
convenient way to see the Falls.
- Leadville, CO (July/August)
Our first trip in the new RV will be to Leadville with the Wolverines
for a four wheeling trip in the mountains. On the way out we stayed
at Wal-Mart in Newton, IA and the Sterling
Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Sterling, CO. At Leadville we stayed
at the Sugar Loafin'
Campground. Sugar Loafin' is an excellent camground located near
beautiful Turquoise Lake. From the campground one can see mountains
in all directions. On the return we stayed at the Grand
Island KOA in Nebraska and the Wal-Mart in Kalamazoo, MI.
- Addison Oaks, Leonard, MI (September)
Over the Labor Day weekend we went camping with friends at Addison
Oaks County Park campground.
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes, MI (October)
In October the Wolverine Four Wheelers made their annual trek for a
day of four wheeling fun on the sand dunes of Silver Lake State Park.The Silver Lake campground is beautiful with
a view onto Silver Lake with the sand dunes in the distance.
2005
- West Branch, MI (May)
In May Lee took the RV on a Jeeping trip to the West Branch area
and stayed at the West Branch RV Park.
- Addison Oaks, Leonard, MI (June)
We went on a camping trip and picnic at the nearby Addison
Oaks Oakland County Park with the Wolverine Four Wheelers.
- Disney World, FL (June/July)
In late June and early July Lee and Cec took Cec's grandkids to Disney
World. We stayed at Ruby Lake Campground in West Virginia, Wal-Mart
in Orangeburg, SC, and Waterway RV Campground in Richmond Hill, GA on
the way down. At Disney we stayed at the very nice Fort
Wilderness Resort and Campground. On the return trip we stayed at
Whispering Pines Campground at Rincon, GA near Savannah, Brookwood
RV Resort Park at Marietta, GA, and Overnighter RV Park at Niota,
Tennessee.
- Addison Oaks, Leonard, MI (September)
We went on a second camping trip and picnic with the Wolverines.

In October the Wolverine Four Wheelers made their annual trek for a
day of four wheeling fun on the sand dunes of Silver Lake State Park.The Silver Lake campground is beautiful with
a view onto Silver Lake with the sand dunes in the distance.
- Disney World, FL (June/July)
In October we went on a fly-camping trip to Disney World with our Wolverine
friends the Hensons. We did not have time to take the RV and flew down
and camped in a tent at Fort
Wilderness Resort and Campground. We packed the tent and bedding
in our bags, and Disney dropped us off at our camp site.
2006
- Marshall, IL (April)
We traveled to Clark County, IL to do genealogy research on Cec's Barton line. We stayed at Lincoln State Park south of Marshall. Cec's cousin and her husband met us there.
- Drummond Island, MI (September)
We traveled to Drummond Island in Lake Huron on the eastern tip of the Michgan UP to four wheel at Turtle Ridge Offroad Park and the public trail to Marble Head.
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes, MI (October)
The annual trip with the Wolverine Four Wheelers to Silver Lake to run the dunes.
2007
- Birch Run, MI (May)
We went to Birch Run and camped at Pine Ridge RV
Campground with friends. We met the Wolverine Four Wheelers at the Mounds ORV Park for a day of
four wheeling.
- South Boardman, MI (June)
We camped on private property near Traverse City with the Wolverine Four Wheelers and went four wheeling on trails in the area.
- Riverside, TX (November)
At Thanksgiving we will drive the RV with towed Jeep TJ to Texas in preparation for retirement in January, 2008.
