Camp Jeep (Hagerman Pass), July, 1997

In 1997 Lee and his buddy Sean attended Camp Jeep at Leadville, CO.  Camp Jeep is a bit of many things--an exposition; fun area for kids; an instructional course; a technical gathering; events such as biking, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting; and, of course, off-roading.

Lee at Hagerman Pass near Leadville, Colorado.

Not having any real off-road expereince (I had not realized the extent of my experience from the Kelly Flats Trail--see above), I chose  the easy trail through Hagerman Pass.

The road was pretty mild with a few rough spots along the way, but it could have been negotiaged with a 2WD sedan.  The scenery was beautiful with marvelous views of several mountain lakes along the way.  We passed through an area where snow was still present.  Hagerman Pass itself was a bit over 10,000 feet altitude.

We took the top down--and we got very dusty!

One part of the road was an old railroad bed that in places was a mild ledge road.

At one point we crossed a small stream.
