Mixon Book

The Mixon family history is recorded in a three volume set of books by John Leslie Mixson written in the 1960's. The book is no longer available for sale, but it may be obtained via interlibrary loan from the Troy State Univerity Library in Alabama.

The Perkins - Ashworth Connection

The only information that I have on the Mixons is that Joshua Perkins married Mary Mixon about 1790, presumably in Aiken Co., SC. They moved to Southwest Louisiana along with Ashworths, Dials, Johnsons, Sweats, and others of a group of mixed ancestry known as Redbones, or "Louisiana Melungeons." Whether the Mixons are of the same mixed heritage as those families is unknown. For more information see the Ashworth Family Page.
